Orchard
The community within Orchard House is nurturing, with clear communication channels that ensure high-quality care and support.
Orchard House is a dedicated girl’s boarding house, accommodating pupils aged 9 – 17 years. The house team work closely together to create a welcoming and ‘home from home’ environment where the girls can comfortably study in their rooms, while enjoying communal spaces for socialising, watching films, cooking and relaxing with fellow boarders.
Life in Orchard is balanced by study, sports, creative arts and social time. The girls are encouraged to manage their time effectively, making the most of the opportunities available to them.
Regular meetings with their boarding parents provide the girls with a platform to discuss their progress in boarding, school, and experiences outside of Abbotsholme. The regular contact boarders have with their house parents helps us recognise individual talents, celebrate personal achievements, and foster a sense of pride in both personal and house identity.
We promote open communication through regular house meetings, year group discussions, and interactions with house prefects, facilitating a two-way dialogue between staff and pupils.
In Orchard, we respect others by working through our differences, solving problems, and supporting the girls in developing into confident young individuals.
Each girl in Orchard is assigned roles and responsibilities within the boarding house to promote a smoothly running community.
