Curriculum

Abbotsholme School provides a diverse and enriching curriculum, offering pupils a wide array of exceptional experiences and opportunities unique to our school, all supported by our outstanding facilities and dedicated educators.

Since its founding, Abbotsholme School has always embraced a unique approach to education, with outdoor education standing alongside academics in the broad curriculum we offer our pupils. We strongly believe our curriculum and approach to education create an environment where pupils are encouraged to discover their passions and build the confidence to become whoever they aspire to be.

Abbotsholme is an inclusive and non-selective school, with pupils of all abilities. Our small class sizes mean that every child is not just taught, but known, and our teachers are able to provide them with a tailored education that helps them reach their potential while building confidence along the way. With a strong focus on academics, we are a school that promotes excellence in all areas, in and beyond the classroom. We are proud to offer scholarships to pupils that excel in a range of subjects and areas, including academics, sports and the arts.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum provides our pupils with the confidence to be ambitious, determined and independent. We promote a learning environment that is both rigorous and supportive, in which pupils are expected to take responsibility for their own learning. Our curriculum is designed to support the character development of our pupils, with our moral core being central to their academic, creative, cultural, and social growth.

Abbotsholme follows the National Curriculum from Prep through to Seniors, but as an independent school, we have the flexibility to adapt it, offering more opportunities than mainstream schools. This allows us to tailor the curriculum to suit the diverse abilities and interests of our pupils, ensuring their academic needs are met while introducing them to a broad range of activities to enhance and support their personal and social development.  

While following the National Curriculum, we provide a tailored education for our pupils, recognising that every child learns in unique ways, at different paces, and through various methods. Taking learning outdoors has always been a core element of the Abbotsholme curriculum, and we are proud to utilise our 140-acre campus to enrich our educational experience.
